Planeteers: Ready, Set, Action!

Just another WordPress.com weblog

July 3, 2008 – Time to Give Back

Have you ever thought that there has to be more to life than just the day-to-day routine? Well, if so, welcome to my world! My name is Amy McAllister and I will be spending the next 11 months traveling around the world with some friends giving back to the planet and loving on all the people we come across.

I know your first thought must be that I am a hippie, free spirit type of person. And yes, while I do consider myself to have a free spirit, this trip is totally out of my comfort zone. I have done the corporate world, checking in from 9 to 5 and then some, but that life did not suite me. Living a life that just focuses on me can be tiring and empty. That’s what I found out, and that is what got me to where I am now.

I will be traveling all over the world to some of the poorest nations, looking for ways to give back. This planet is dying and needs helping hands to help bring it back to life! I want to ask that you join me on my journey. I will be updating this blog throughout the year. Unfortunately, due to limited internet access I will not be able to update this every day or week. But I do pledge that you will hear from me at least once a month, hopefully more. There will be stories, pictures, and suggestions of ways how you can get involved and help save our beloved planet earth. This journey is not about me or for me. I am not making this journey to make myself feel good. I am doing to help open the world’s eyes. There is so much poverty and devastation all over the world. If my journey shows one person that “by our powers combined, we can make a difference,” then it will have all been worth it.

Love your traveling Planeteer,

Amy McAllister

go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
